It's been a fantastic few weeks here at YBC and I am so excited to share the details soon! Until then, let's talk workouts.
I've been continuing to listen to my body and rest more. I find that when I give myself more rest, I see more progress in the things I am focusing on. Lately, I've been working on improving upper body strength and so this past weekend I was able to capture proof of my unassisted pull ups! I can only do one well. The second one has major wiggle action to get me up there and when I attempt a third, I can go about halfway up. So there is lots of room for improvement, but I really love the journey. I'm having so much fun with it.
A funny story. Last year, in Los Angeles, I dragged Greg to a level 3/4 master class. I didn't think it'd be too crazy but man was I wrong. Everyone - I mean every single person in the room of maybe 40 people - was doing a handstand in the middle of their vinyasas while jumping forward from downward facing dog. It was insane! Greg and I both, at one point, just sat back on our shins and looked at each other like, "Who the heck are these ninjas?!"
Fast forward a year later and with all the work I've been doing on my upper body strength, I thought I'd give jumping into it a go this past weekend....and bam! It's not pretty, but for a first try I am very pleased. I'll continue to work on stabilizing, taking a few breaths at the top and then coming down slower. But yay! It's happening!
I'd love to know - what are you working on in your workouts off the mat and how are they impacting your physical practice on the mat?
