Happy Monday, friends! We’re starting off the week with a serious core exercise you can do with a yoga block (or really anything you have around the house) to build up strength. Core strength is so much more than a six pack! Increased core strength may help with posture, may prevent back issues, and of course will help with your physical yoga practice.
Here’s how to do it:
Start in a plank position. The body should be in one diagonal line (ie don’t let the butt sink). Begin with the yoga block to your right (off the yoga mat, if you’re using one).
Then, slowly and with control, bring your right hand onto the yoga block. Maintain the integrity of the plank pose as you do this.
Slowly slide the block to the left, as you maintain the integrity of the plank pose, and then replace the right hand back down to its original position.
Breathe three to five breaths in plank pose.
Take the left hand to the block, maintaining the position of the plank pose.
Slowly slide the block to the right, maintaining proper plank pose positioning. Then, repeat the whole thing over. Start with three times each side, and work your way up to ten.
Let me know how it goes down for you down in the comments below!
PS Here's another core exercise and a yoga sequence fore the core.
