Style Series is an installment on YBC to help get me out of my leggings & lipstick go-to look. I've always, obviously, wanted to feel put together, but growing up, I really never took the time to try to figure out what looks good on my body type, so this series is all about trying to figure that out.
When I was in Los Angeles, I popped into Wasteland, one of my favorite thrift shops to see what I could find because here's the thing - I love high quality products, but I don't love high price tags, which is why I'm such a big fan of thrift shops. There are some gems out there! Anyway, while perusing the racks, I found this great Equipment sweater dress. I initially wasn't going to try it on because I usually feel like I look super short in, well, short dresses, but I was so in love with the deep burgundy color that I tried it on despite my doubts. Burgundy is such a warm, beautiful color for the colder months, and aside from a mock turtleneck, I don't have any burgundy in my closet. The actual dress I got is probably a few years old because I can't find it online, but I found one similar by the same brand, and below are a few other options at various price points.
A sweater dress feels like a more put together look than a sweatshirt dress, even though it's essentially the same cut. I feel like it's so classic, yet so versatile.
I kept the accessories pretty minimal - no necklace or heavy bracelets or chunky rings, but I did add these big earrings. While I love a good studded earring, I'm a huge fan of giant, ornate earrings. These are old so they're not online, but below are a few others that would work:
For the shoes, I wore my over the knees boots with this dress, but again, I feel the dress is so versatile it would go well with heels or even sneakers for a super casual look. Below are my shoes along with some others I think would go well with the dress.
I'm so into this look, especially for the holidays. It's easy, simple, and most importantly in my book - comfortable! I'd love to hear your thoughts and hear what your go-to holiday looks are!
