I’m in Asheville this week, chipping away at my 300 hour YTT and getting some work done. I’ve been on the road a lot lately, so just taking one thing at a time to keep myself healthy and centered. I usually make pretty low key playlists for my public yoga classes, with mellow songs and few lyrics, but when I wiggle on my mat at home, I like to listen to my favorite tunes and move however comes naturally. I teach a 75 minute donation based Vinyasa Flow class on Friday nights, and most of the students are college kids who walk into the studio buzzing with energy, giggling and Snapchatting their pre-yoga faces. It’s a lot of fun to practice with them. They have few expectations and are just excited to be there with open minds, so last week we tried a more exciting playlist. We had a great time, and though it was less meditative than most other classes I teach, I got great feedback on the music. I started them off with breathing to singing bowls and ended with a guided meditation to a prayer hymn, so the zen was still strong. I’ve been LOVING sound baths and singing bowls lately.
