As part of my partnership with Kohl's for their #MakeYourMove campaign, I've been working on a few spring goals. One of the goals is to take better care of myself, so I've started rolling out my muscles before and after workouts. I've found it a nice way to warm up the muscles, work out any kinks and tension, and to prevent injury.
Types of Rollers
I have a couple rollers. The one I'm using in the video below is my go-to for light pressure. It's easy to use, easy to travel with (even if you're just headed to the gym), and effective. But when I have major tension I prefer using this foam roller. The difference to me is that with the foam roller, I can lay my body over top of it and therefore get deeper because my body weight is more than the pressure I can apply with my arms using the other one, you know what I mean? So if you're in the market for a roller, decide what kind of pressure you need, and go from there.
How to Roll Out
Handheld roller: Just position the roller over your muscles, and press down as you move back and forth.
Foam roller: Position your body over top of the roller and lower your weight down until you get enough pressure and move yourself back and forth.
Do you guys roll out? What kind of roller do you have?
