Hi friends! If you follow me on periscope (@yogabycandace), I want to thank you for chiming in yesterday. I was delirious from a fever (#foodpoisoningproblems) and needed to get this video shot but wasn't sure if we should do a yoga for sleep or yoga to wake up so we conducted a little poll on periscope! I kind of love periscope but am not sure how to use it. A few people have suggested yoga classes but in order to interact with people, I need to be able to see the screen of the phone so I don't really see that working. Unless I just teach the class without interacting... Let me know your thoughts below, if you have any ideas!
Ok so today we're doing a twelve minute yoga in bed sequence to unwind after a long day. This is the perfect yoga sequence to do after work, or right before bed. It's especially good if you're someone who has a tough time getting your brain to turn off when it's time to sleep. We start from the head down - releasing tension in the neck, shoulders, arms, upper back, chest, low back, hips and hamstrings and end in a nice relaxing pose for a quick, guided meditation. I hope you enjoy.
IntelliBED Review
I want to take a second to talk about the bed. The DIY headboard backs the intelliBED. IntelliBED sent their 30 Deluxe King Bed (I know, #spoiled) and told me to try it out. If I didn't like it, they said they would pick it up, no questions asked (and that's their policy for every bed they sell).
Things I love about this bed:
- non-toxic, hypo-allergenic, and anti-microbial materials - that's right, no formaldehyde, no boric acid (a known carcinogen), no flame retardants. Instead, they use a non-off gassing silica fire blocker to meet Federal Regulations.
- no partner disturbance - this bed features firm coils, individually wrapped with latex that looks and feels like a foam but there is no rubber smell (and the latex has been processed in a safe manner, extracting the protein that some people are allergic to). I can literally jump on the bed and Greg would never feel it next to me.
- excellent pressure relief - When I talked with the people at intelliBED they said that the reason people toss and turn at night is because the bed is actually causing people to wake up. When we sit or stand, our hips should be in good alignment in order to feel good. The same goes for sleep, and a moderately firm bed is the key to pushing our hips into alignment when we sleep. With the hips in alignment while we sleep, back pain may be reduced. A layer of intelliGEL within the mattress supports the natural curve of the body and redistributes the weight across the bed so the body rests evenly, without pressure being applied to any one area of the body, thereby letting the body sleep through the night. (IntelliGEL, by the way, is what's used in hospitals for coma patients and burn victims - very easy on the body and meant to evenly distribute the pressure so there is no discomfort.)
- Made in the USA - It's important to me, and I love that they make everything in the US (Utah, to be exact.)
I've had the bed for about three months and have found it to be exceptional. I get great sleep, and find it to be super comfortable. The bed is guaranteed for 30 years, so while it's expensive, when you consider cost per use, it's not bad. I also love that they will pick up the bed free of charge if you don't like it after 60 days. You can use YOGABYCANDACE for 10% off, if you're in the market for a bed.
On top of the bed, I've got a duvet cover & shams from Coyuchi. I love the mid grey color that has just the slightest hint of purple. They're super durable, crisp, and feel cool to sleep in. Pillows and covers from TJ Maxx and sheets from IntelliBED.
