I just returned from Santa Barbara, where I held a weekend yoga retreat. It was a small group of great people in a beautiful location just having a weekend of relaxation with meditation, yoga and fresh juices. I thought I'd share a few pictures and details, if you're interested.
I was pretty pleased with the venue because sometimes you see a place online and you get there and it's not quite the same in person. When we arrived, I sort of held my breath, but my anxiety quickly dissolved. The ranch was really great for our purposes. It had an open floor plan so we could all hang out together for meals and juicing. Set on twenty acres, it was tranquil, quiet, and had a great little patio space for our yoga classes.
On the first morning, I found Buckles curled up in the master bedroom closet. :) He was our weekend mascot and I was so grateful for how well he behaved.
We had a variety of classes including a detox yoga flow, yoga nidra guided meditation, blindfold yoga, groove power yoga and slow yoga in a fast world - a super slow powerful class.
My husband Greg did all the juicing for the girls who were doing the juice cleanse and the cooking for the girls who were had opted for the meal plan, and I can't thank him enough because I wouldn't have been able to do this weekend without him. He used a cold press Omega juicer to make the fresh juices, and we followed Joe's Reboot juice program.
One of the things I love about leading retreats is getting to meet such wonderful people. We all came from different places and were in different lines of work, but were into similar things and it ended up being a nice girls weekend where we chatted about everything from our favorite yoga leggings to juice cleanse stories to books that kept us on the edge of our seats.
I was also so happy that I got to meet up with Carrie, an inspirational woman who writes the blog Carrie On Living. We had "met" online last year and it was so nice to finally chat in person about everything from how to stay healthy while traveling (my tips, her tips), to what to do with black garlic. :)
I'm back now in LA and gearing up for my next class - a free yoga class at Free People in Brentwood, California this Saturday. If you're local, come join!
Have you ever gone on a yoga retreat? Would you prefer a weekend yoga retreat somewhere local or a longer retreat at an exotic location?
