The most popular class at our Ibiza yoga retreat a few weeks ago was an hour long blindfolded yoga class, and I wanted to share a bit of the practice with you because it really is so different from a regular practice. The blindfold can seem scary because all of the sudden you can't see so the balance might be off, and you feel sort of out of control...but when you step back and look at it from a different perspective, the blindfold is an excellent prop for immediately taking the practice deeper. You immediately have to turn inward, feel every movement in the body, and rely on other senses. It's pretty great, and if I ever wind up settling down somewhere I'd love to offer this class somewhere on a regular basis.
Anyway, here ya go. If you're a beginner, or super nervous about it, you could just watch the video first and then try it with a blindfold on.
For a blindfold, I just use my sleep mask. You could also just use a scarf, handkerchief, or wide headband.
As always, work within a pain-free range, and don't be hard on yourself. If you feel wobbly or you fall - no worries. We all have to start somewhere. ;) If you are interested in purchasing this video to permanently have on all your devices, you can do so here.
The Tank Top
Yoga Hyde sent me their Taylor tank (blogging perks, woop!), and I really love it. I don't have many activewear tanks, and I love that this one is long, hugs the body without being restrictive, has a built in simple shelf bra, and is made from a stretchy, organic, soft cotton. Plus, the back is pretty great, no? Definitely recommended, if you're in the market for a yoga tank.
Yoga Event This Weekend
Also! If you're in the Los Angeles area, I'm leading a groove power yoga class followed by food and drink and a Lorna Jane trunk show (20% off!). I'd love to have you join - more info here.
Have a fantastic weekend!
