A while back, Ashley gifted me a Passion Planner, and it served to better structure and focus my days, but when COVID-19 hit, my organization and planning sort of went out the window as I worked to figure out how to function as a small business owner, given the epidemic, and the Passion Planner took a backseat.
Quarantine and the, I hate to say the phrase but here we go, “new normal” was a wild rollercoaster ride for me, and I don’t really like rollercoaster rides in the best of times, so I definitely was not a fan during this time. Most days I was very down, and some days I would have a little glimmer of hope and ease. But mostly, it was dark. And I wasn’t doing myself much good with the behaviors I was exhibiting. Staying up way too late watching tv, drinking more frequently than usual just because it felt like I should, eating more junk food than usual, sleeping too late, not keeping a regular workout schedule - it felt like everything went haywire. Finally, I got sick of my own nonsense, and took a hard look at myself and said it was time for a change. Time to get back to the old me - the me that functions best on routine, order, and with a game plan.
I gave myself a week of getting up earlier, got back into my stretching and morning meditation routine, and pulled out my Passion Planner to start working from a place of more intention. I love that the planner has space and prompts to focus your week. I started picking a weekly mantra which helped to guide my week. My mantra has remained the same for the last few weeks which is: Serve Every Day.
So every day, I plan my To Do’s around acts of service. Whether it’s writing a blog post in the hopes of inspiring others to better focus their weeks, like this post, or whether it’s sharing a tip to a yoga pose question I get frequently, or posting a workout with minimal equipment people can do at home, I’m trying to better focus my days around serving the little YBC® community we’ve built over the years, and in doing so, putting my trust into the universe that when you work from a place of intention, needs will be met. Bills will be paid. Work will be done. All will be okay.
So whether it’s work that’s got you down, or your own personal life issues and this time is feeling super difficult, try setting a mantra for your week, and use that mantra to quietly fuel your approach to each day, and how you show up in each moment for yourself, your family, your friends, and your work. When we remember our why, our intention, things become clearer and we can move with more ease. I’d love to hear what your weekly mantra is, if you’d like to share, down in the comments section below!
