Don't forget to enter to win the In the Bag giveaway! And! If you're sick of snow, come join me in Miami in March for an urban yoga retreat!
Since we're well into the February heart opening backbend project, I thought it'd be a good time to shine the spotlight on a pose that not only feels incredible, but can be instrumental in helping open up the chest, shoulder and armpit area. For all my backbend people, this one's a goodie!
Sundial Pose (aka compass pose or parivrtta surya yantrasana) is pretty intense, so beginners should use a yoga strap to bridge the space between the hand and the foot if grabbing onto the foot is too much. Beginners can also lift the lifted leg's hip off the ground to get a little more length.
Breathe here 5-7 breaths, or as long as you can comfortably hang out in the pose, and then take it to the other side.
Let's talk How's the Backbend Project going for you? Any requests for next month's project?
