For my birthday back in February, a friend gifted me a book of Clean Cocktails, some barware, and seeds for herbs, which was awesome because I'd been wanting to step up my entertaining game for a while. I don't drink a whole lot - partly because I just don't like feeling buzzed (and I definitely don't like feeling drunk), but the other part is that I simply don't know what to order. I don't like the idea of simple syrups and mixers, which are loaded with artificial colorings, sugar, and other ingredients I tend to steer clear of. This book was great, because it essentially teaches you how to make healthier versions of the syrups they use in cocktails, and it's been a game changer.
This weekend, I made the All-Night Bender, which was:
- 2oz organic gin
- 1oz fresh carrot juice (I have this juicer)
- 1/2oz fresh lime juice
- 1/4oz Honey Syrup (basically just boil some honey in water, and boom - honey syrup)
- ice
- garnish with a lime wedge
The cocktail was clean, delicious and refreshing, and I'm really looking forward to trying other cocktail recipes this season!
