Can you believe we're in the second week of December?! Time is flying by! This past weekend we got in the holiday spirit and picked out a (small) tree and some decor, took photos for our holiday card and stopped by a Christmas market.
My friend was telling me about this German word - gemütlichkeit - which doesn't translate in English but means a situation that induces a cheerful mood, a peaceful mind, with the connotation of belonging and social acceptance, the coziness of the holiday season. How beautiful is that?!
Truly, no one does Christmas like the Germans, and the Christmas market is a prime example of that. Little wooden booths line the walkway where artists and artisans come to sell their goods, and people have all sorts of foods for sale from bratwurst to crepes, and the beer and gluhwein (hot mulled wine) flows. It's one of my favorite parts about Germany.
