I've talked a few times on the blog about the importance of self-care. For a long time, I felt like self-care was selfish. I felt that putting myself first meant that I was putting everyone else in my life last, and therefore I felt guilty.
But over the years, I have learned that you can't pour from an empty cup. If I don't care care of myself, I'm no good to anyone around me. If I do take care of myself, I am a better version of myself, and therefore a better friend, daughter, partner, etc. So self care is key for leading an overall much better life.
One of the ways you can practice self care is right at home with a little at-home spa day. I've chosen a handful of key products to help you de-stress and unwind. Here we go:
This deep conditioning mask from iHerb is an intense restorative treatment that's been so helpful to my colored ends. It forms a protective barrier around the hair strands and the argan oil, cocoa butter and planted-sourced keratin leave your hair silky smooth and super healthy.
These single use face masks from iHerb would make for such a great stocking stuffer! I love this all natural face mask because the turmeric is very effective for inflamed skin, since it's a natural anti-inflammatory remedy.
This buttery delicious matcha tea from iHerb is one of my favorites, and not only because it tastes wonderful, but because matcha tea is so good for you. It's antioxidant rice and contains essential vitamins and minerals. It has a higher beta carotene content than spinach or carrots, so pour yourself a cuppa and feel yourself soak up all that goodness!
I am a huge fan of these bath salts from iHerb because I feel a noticeable difference whenever I use them. I pour about a cup and a half in the bath and soak when I'm feeling run down or particularly sore from a workout or strenuous yoga class. Magnesium, which is one of the main ingredients in these bath salts, is best absorbed through our skin, so a hot soak is the way to go. Magnesium is helpful in relieving minor aches from sore muscles, and is helpful to calm the body down for a restful sleep. The lavender and patchouli essential oils that are infused in these bath salts also promote relaxation, so you can expect to feel restored and super calm after using this in the bath.
This body oil has been my go-to from iHerb for years. I even bring it with me when I get a massage, just in case I don't care for the oil they use! Body oil is particularly nice to use on the skin after getting out of the bath because it's a humectant which means it really locks in moisture. You can give yourself a little mini-massage as you rub it in to help alleviate tight muscles. The other way you can use it is pour about a tablespoon into the bath. Because it is lavender-infused, it'll help calm you down and the oil will soften your skin.
