If there's one pose that makes people laugh in class, it's happy baby because, well, it's a funny pose. It's also really awesome for opening up the hips so if crow pose is on your radar, this is a pose you're going to want to add to your practice asap.
Basically the most common mistake I see is the top of the head coming to the mat and the back of the neck lifting up. This is often caused from grabbing the bottoms of the feet when there just isn't enough flexibility there yet to get the knees up toward the armpits. So, to get back into alignment, try grabbing hold of the ankles or the shins or wherever you need to until the neck can come back down to the mat.
If you're one of those people who is super open in the hips, then try this little trick just to go a bit deeper: reach the tailbone down toward the mat, imagining that you can feel your entire spine from the tailbone all the way up to the base of the head connected to the yoga mat.
Hope that helps!
