Lauren and I are in Italy, so Madison is taking over and sharing an incredible superfood smoothie bowl recipe that I know you're gonna love! xoCandace
Hello, beautiful readers! It's Madison here, and today I am bringing you this super easy smoothie bowl recipe that is chock-full of superfood, antioxidant ingredients. Yep, we're hitting all the buzzwords.
Here are the ingredients you need for the smoothie itself:
- 3 frozen bananas
- ¼ cup raw cashews
- ¼ teaspoon matcha powder
- 1 mango
- 1 serving of the protein powder of your choice (we used Vega French Vanilla protein)
- ¼ cup of water (add more depending on how easily everything blends)
A note about matcha- it's awesome.
Let me elaborate: matcha is powdered green tea that is just brimming with antioxidants. Because the whole leaf is ingested, matcha offers a more potent source of nutrients. It has caffeine, but the caffeine content is balanced by L-Theanine, which is known to produce calm. Matcha reduces inflammation = great for skin health. So when you get the chance to add matcha to something, definitely go for it. As a bonus, it turns whatever mix you add it to mint green, transforming any smoothie you make into an insta-worthy masterpiece (if you're into that kinda thing).
How to make:
Thankfully, it doesn't get much simpler than smoothie making. First, add a bit of water. Then, place your lighter ingredients next, placing heavier ingredients closer to the top. Some people put ice in their smoothies, but the frozen bananas should suffice. Mix that sucker up to match your smoothie preference (thick or more liquidy, your call!). We used our Vitamix to blend.
Now for the toppings we used-
Have some fun with the topping designs or just mix it all together. It'll taste the same either way! These were just some toppings we had around the office, but feel free to top off your smoothie with whatever ingredients your heart desires.
Enjoy!
