PSA: Our Namaslay® YTT instructor Ashley will be teaching a Chakras Workshop this Friday, May 8, 2020, if you’re a curious student or a yoga teacher looking for continuing education. If that time doesn’t work for you, you can still register and receive the link to the recording after the workshop. She’ll provide an intro lesson to chakras, explain a practical understanding of the chakras as a tool for exploring the mind/body connection, guide you through a meditation and asana practice, and set you up with a 20 page workbook to do your own guided reflections. RYTs can get 2 hours of non-contact continuing education credit with Yoga Alliance.
If you’re a subscriber to the YBC® App (Android, iOS), you know that we’ve been posting new At-Home Workouts weekly, which I’ve been loving. I’ll do the workouts while I’m watching tv - this quarantine time has been a good reminder that you really don’t need any equipment in order to have a good workout.
This particular workout works on glutes, legs and core. The movements include air squats, side skater steps with touchdowns, and a scissor core exercise. I am a firm believer that there should always be options so that all, no matter the level, are challenged. As a nod to that, you can add a jump to your air squat, a jump to the skater steps, and you can lower the legs to increase the challenge of the core exercise. Basically, there’s no such thing as a workout that is too easy - you just have to be innovative and think about how to make each exercise work for you!
