We are thrilled to announce we will be debuting our 300hr Advanced Namaslay® Yoga Teacher Training Intensive Program in Thailand in July, 2020.
This has been a year in the making, and I’m so happy to share that we are finally ready to begin accepting applications for this intensive Thailand adventure. I will be your lead instructor through this training, and can’t wait to meet you all. I’ve grown a lot since I started my yoga business, and I feel I bring so much to the table that will be of service to you as trainees. I’ve jotted a few of those notes below for anyone who is new around here:
I’m an E-RYT500 which means I’ve completed a 200hr yoga teacher training (my teacher was Mark Ansari, a direct student of Patthabi Jois), and a 300hr advanced yoga teacher training program through Asheville Yoga Center. My 200hr YTT was Ashtanga based, and my 300hr training was more therapeutic based.
I own a boutique yoga and fitness studio called Namaslay® Studios in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
I have led yoga workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings all over the world from Costa Rica to California to Canada to Kenya.
What started as a one woman blog has turned into a small business that employs over ten people, and has included collaborations with many small businesses and larger companies as well, including Under Armour, Puma, Champion, Revlon, Audible, and Sweaty Betty.
What makes this 300HR Intensive Yoga Teacher Training Unique? This Yoga Alliance accredited curriculum is an advanced yoga teacher training program that focuses on the more subtle aspects of yoga with the intention to help create a more inclusive environment for all people who attend the classes of our graduates. Included in the curriculum is the following:
Strength Training For Yoga: In this training, we will build upon the foundational basics for strength training to complement a yoga practice that was taught in our 200hr level training (no worries if you didn’t attend our 200hr - there will be an overview, and we’ll build upon it). Based on what I’ve seen in classes, many students and teachers are relying on their mobility (and often, their hyper-mobility - yikes!), to get them through powerful vinyasa classes. The danger is that over time, relying on that hyper-mobility may lead to joint damage and potential injury. A great way to balance out hyper-mobility is building strength. Not only will the strength building personally impact our trainees in their overall health, but it will give their yoga practice that extra boost to take it to the next level. In addition, the vital strength training information they learn in the Namaslay® Yoga Teacher Training program will ensure they'll have solutions for their students with hyper-mobility and muscle imbalances to help keep them safe.
Intelligent Anatomical Sequencing: This course is all about refining your sequencing skills, so your asana classes are comprehensive and make anatomical sense for the physical body.
How to Safely Sequence and Practice Yin Yoga: This yin yoga module focuses on developing your skills as a yin yoga teacher, learning the appropriate sequencing strategies, cues and modifications for leading a yin class.
The Art of Teaching and Practicing Meditation: This in-depth meditation training course will cover how to practice and lead the following - Loving-Kindness Meditation, Mantra Meditation, Breath Awareness Meditation, Body Scan Meditation, and Mindfulness Meditation.
Yoga and Recovery: This course will offer an educational overview for how to use appropriate cues for special populations including recovering addicts and those with common chronic anxiety disorders with a focus on creating more inclusive general yoga classes.
The Art of Teaching Restorative Yoga: This course will offer instruction for developing your skills as a restorative yoga teacher and will cover alignment, cues, sequencing techniques, quality of voice training, and more.
Principles of Teaching Styles and Effective Cues: This session is about refining your teaching techniques and developing a more authentic voice as a yoga teacher.
Healthy Movement Patterns: Through lecture, asana practice and strength building exercises, workouts, and postural assessment workshops, we’ll cover how the body moves in three planes of motion, the human physical anatomy, including the muscle system, skeletal system and neuromuscular efficiency.
The Art of Teaching Yoga for Injuries: This module, meant to empower yoga teachers, will cover common injuries we see in yoga class, learn about where they come from, and how to modify postures to make yoga classes more accessible to those experiencing injury.
Understanding and Implementing Philosophical Yogic Themes in Personal and Professional Life: In this module we will break down the Kleshas, the Koshas and the 8 Limbs and discuss how we can integrate these themes into our own lives for personal enrichment and vibrancy, and how to inject the lessons of these philosophies into the classes that we create to spread a deeper understanding of yoga.
Seva Yoga as Service: This course is about understanding the true meaning of seva and brainstorming ways we can deepen our positive impact on the world and within our communities.
The Yoga Nidra Experience: This course will offer an educational overview to the history of yoga nidra, understanding what the full yoga nidra practice is, and how to create your own yoga nidra experience for others.
Overview of Teaching Yoga for Emotional Self-Regulation: This course will provide an educational overview of chronic common anxiety disorders and how they may impact the the physical and emotional body that may appear as various forms of manifestations and will cover the concepts of safety, inclusivity, informed consent, and ethics.
Understanding Co-Dependency and Emotional Self-Regulation: With the intention to create more inclusive general yoga classes, this course focuses on co-dependency, and will cover non-violent communication, embodiment concepts, how to ground and hold space, and the correlation of yoga and the twelve steps.
Anatomy Intensive Understanding Posterior Chain and Muscle Imbalance: Typical vinyasa yoga is very front body strengthening and back body lengthening which may create muscle imbalance over time. In this course, we will focus on better understanding the posterior chain, how the body functions and moves, and what strengthening moves and sequencing techniques we can begin to implement to create a more comprehensive movement practice for our bodies.
Chakra Intensive: This module will cover the chakra system, the mantras and elements associated with each chakra and an in-depth look at bandhas as they relate to the chakra system.
Practicum: While the Yoga Alliance requires 5 hours of practicum, our curriculum includes 20 hours. This is because our focus is on helping build teaching confidence in our graduates. You’ll be teaching from day one and have a number of practicums, as well as two written evaluations.

Payment plans: Payment plans are available, and come with a $200 convenience fee. It works like this: Your application fee of $250 will be credited towards your balance if you are accepted. If you are not accepted, it will be refunded to you. If you are accepted and would like to do the payment plan, you will then pay a $200 convenience fee via PayPal. This payment does not go towards your final balance; this is the aforementioned convenience fee. Once you make that payment, you will then receive a link for monthly payments of the remaining balance that you will pay via credit card. The balance must be paid in full by June 6, 2020. All sales are final, no refunds are granted for any reason unless you're able to find someone else to take your spot, in which case the person taking your spot will need to pay you. If the person taking your spot would like to upgrade their room (ex: from a triple to a double or single), payment is due to YBC® within 24hrs of acceptance to the training. If payment has not been rendered, their spot at the training is not guaranteed. We strongly recommend getting travel insurance like AIG and using their ‘cancel for any reason’ plan, because it would cover not only your flights, but the cost for the training as well.
Eligibility and Application Process
We live our lives by the Namaslay® philosophy - lead with love, kindness, gratitude and an unwavering belief in one's intrinsic capabilities. We believe in being gentle, determined, and strong. We believe in doing no harm and taking no shit. We are accepting applicants filled with kindness, determination and grit. We are accepting applicants with open minds, open hearts, and a willingness to be lovingly and gently pushed so they can emerge the best versions of themselves. We are accepting applicants who want to grow and lift others up through the Namaslay® teachings of this program. Note that no where on our program description does it say that you must be able to do all the yoga poses, or the perfect forward fold or handstand. We don't care about that stuff because you're coming to us to learn. We'd much prefer someone with an open mind who can't do x, y or z pose, than someone who is closed minded but has the perfect handstand. We're not here for the handstands. We are here for the growth that comes from the teachings. We are here to build confident, compassionate, loving, knowledgeable teachers. So don't worry about what you can or cannot do right now, because that's not important. Rather, ask yourself if you have the love and determination to get through what is sure to be a demanding yet empowering, life-changing, intensive training.
After you apply, please:
Add Jan (@) YogaByCandace.com to your contact list and wait three business days for news of your application.
As this is a popular training and the demand is high, if you are accepted, the payment plan deposit or payment in full will be required within 2 business days.
Once your first payment is made, you will receive:
An invite to our private Facebook group for your YTT group
A reading and packing list
A pre-arrival assignment which will include:
Social media assignment
Written observations of various styles of yoga classes
