Heads up: The YBC Yoga Forum is now open! It's a place where health conscious people (like you!) are coming together to chat about everything from playlists to pigeon pose. Come join, we'd love to connect!
I often shy away from the term "heart opening yoga" because I feel like it lends itself to the stereotypical flowery yoga talk that makes most people's eyes glaze over, and the last thing I want to do is turn people off from yoga. And I get it, I mean, what exactly does heart opening yoga mean, you know? Well, for me, it means a couple things.
First and foremost, it means a focus on stretching and lengthening the front body with an emphasis on the chest. Secondly, I find that whenever I do this kind of practice, my mood instantly improves, so it's definitely a feel-good practice. And that's why I used the heart opening term today. Hope I don't scare anyone away!
This is a flow sequence, and it offers ways to modify and ways to go a bit deeper, so it's appropriate for all levels, provided you stay honest with how you're doing and honor how you feel. Never push yourself to the point of pain in yoga.
Hope you enjoy! In the comments below, let me know how it goes for you, or feel free to let me know if you have a request for a future yoga video. Don't forget, if you love this sequence, it's available for purchase here, so you can have it on your device when you travel or don't have internet connection.
