Each month on the YBC® app we offer programs to help you grow in your movement practices, mental health and in building community with other YBCers. In the past, we’ve offered a 30 Day Handstand Program, 30 Day Flexibility Program, and a 30 Day Meditation Practice, to name a few. For the month of August, we’ve developed a program in partnership with Molly Franken, which focuses more on the inner work: a look at the lines we draw to bring balance to our relationships with ourselves and with others. The 30 Day Healthy & Conscious Boundary Challenge is a program to enable us all to begin moving towards an intentional healthy boundary practice in our daily lives. Each day includes a boundary tip and journal reflection paired with a yoga practice to incorporate into your routine. The order in which you participate each day really doesn’t matter, but if you’re someone who struggles with stillness or meditation, I’d recommend moving with your breath in a little yoga first, before settling in for the introspection.
Molly designed the boundary tips and reflections with intention and care, and she describes more about her work in putting this guide together for us below.
From Molly: “Boundaries” is a buzz word that folks are hearing more and more of, as is the term “self-care.” It’s great that these terms are becoming more commonplace, but what’s more important is actually having a deep understanding of a concept and having the tools to integrate it into our lives.
The truth? I created this program because it’s needed, which is the same reason I incorporate Conscious Boundary Work into my coaching practice. It’s great to understand an idea on an intellectual level. It’s something else entirely to know how to create a personal and foundational practice. This 30 Day Healthy & Conscious Boundary Challenge program is a starting point. It will give you tangible tips and journaling prompts to take a deeper dive into your own relationship with boundaries. It will allow you to find the areas in your life that need some healthy boundary support and shoring up. It will encourage the small practices that can assist you in starting to create conscious awareness of healthy boundaries, and it will reinforce their necessity in creating a thriving and intentional life for yourself. It will also allow you to reframe some of the lingering and false ideas around what boundaries are. Hint: They aren’t just about saying ‘no’.
