A couple weeks ago, Lauren and I set off on our Fall Namaslay® Yoga Workshop Tour across the Midwest, and the third stop along the way was St. Louis. Neither of us had ever been to the city before, so we were excited to see what the area had to offer, and Seven Gables Inn was kind enough to host us while we were in town.
While in town, we decided to run two workshops. We rented this really unique restored warehouse style space at Utopia Studios, which is essentially an artists’ collective space. *There may or may not have been a Jazz band rehearsal going on in the adjacent space during our workshop, but everyone was in really good spirits about it haha! On Friday evening we hosted our signature Namaslay® Arm Balance Workshop which is always a hit! We start with breathing, building our confidence, and a strong yoga practice with some new core and upper body strength building movements sprinkled in between flows. After we are warm and ready, we play with our edges, practicing strong set ups, falling down, supporting one another with partner poses, and making notes of what we’d like to work on moving forward. People are almost always surprised by what they can do, and the partner assists help even the most unsure students lift off the ground.
The following day I hosted a newer anatomy-based educational workshop called Namaslay® Got Yo’ Back - a unique, three hour workshop I developed after completing my 300hr teacher training to teach some basic anatomy and postural awareness, so students can identify their muscle imbalances and incorporate strength building movements into their practice to find balance and reduce minor aches and pains. We didn’t have a full house in St. Louis, but it was really nice to have an intimate workshop experience with those who came, and I was able to connect with everyone on a deeper level. It was really special, and I appreciate each and every one of you who came out.
Before pulling up to Seven Gables Inn, I imagined a quaint, tudor-style hotel sitting at the end of a long dirt country road in the middle of an open field. Man, we were shocked when we pulled up to the property... in the middle of the city! Nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of Clayton, Missouri, the Seven Gables Inn was as quaint as we imagined in an unbelievably convenient location. A little slice of history dating back to 1926, the property just underwent a massive renovation to the tune of $6.5 million. Lauren and I had been eating out quite a bit, so we took advantage of the in-room mini fridge and drove about 5 minutes to the nearest Whole Foods to grab dinner - a rotisserie chicken and salad - along with a few snacks for our road trip to Kansas City the next day.
When touring the property, Lauren and I were impressed with their private event space. The Gables Room is inviting, bright and beautifully decorated with an open space - perfect for a luncheon or bridal/baby shower - and an adjoining sitting corner where you can take a quick meeting or simply relax and hang with friends and family.
In the middle of the hotel is a unique outdoor courtyard decorated with white string lights, a beautiful water feature, and a gorgeous old, twisted tree (talk about the perfect setting for a modest, intimate wedding!)
Our hosts were gracious, and this was one of the sweetest stays we had on the whole tour. If you’re planning a visit to St. Louis soon, I’d definitely recommend a stay at Seven Gables Inn.
