It's been a minute since our last Workout Wednesday post but I'm happy to be back at it today with a post featuring pics from my trip to Key West. You might not be able to pick up on it from a quick glance at these photos, but we were getting eaten alive by sand flies or something! This was the last little series of photos we took because we couldn't take it anymore! The bites were tiny, and all over my ankles and I felt like crying. Haha, see?! You never know what's happening behind the scenes. Ok, onward!
Here's a total body workout you can do outside, now that the weather is warming up. All you need is a tree.
1. Pike Hold - This is a great way to build strength for handstands and work on developing the upper body. Be sure to actively push the ground away so your armpits are long. Hold for 10 seconds to one minute, depending on your level and what's manageable to you.
2. Pike Leg Lift Hold - When you're ready to move on, lift one leg overhead. Remember to actively push the ground away from you. Hold for 10 seconds to one minute, depending on your level and what feels okay for you, and then switch sides. (You arms will be burning now, for sure!)
3. Chair Position Hold - This doesn't look like much but man it burned my legs after about thirty seconds! Essentially you just want to lean your butt against the tree, with your butt in line with your knees or slightly above. Make sure your knees are stacked in line with your ankles. Take your arms out in front of you and tighten through your core as you breathe. Hold for ten seconds to one minute, depending on how you feel.
Then, repeat two to four more times through!
Hope you guys enjoy - let me know how it goes for you down in the comments section below!
