Yay! We've arrived in California and today will spend the day getting settled in. I can't wait to be unpacked and then go off in search of some good yoga. It's been far too long since my last practice! In the meantime, I'd like to share a favorite pose with you.
Marichyasana I is a great seated twist that can be really detoxifying. The key to this pose is initiating the twist at the navel, rather than turning just with the shoulders. It's pretty tough to clasp the hands on the first go, so don't be discouraged if you need to use a yoga strap. Ain't no shame in props, my friends! We all have to start somewhere! Breathe 5-7 breaths here and then take it over to the other side. If you find that you're super flexible and want to take it a step further, you can try binding (3rd and 4th pictures).
Give it a try and let me know how you feel in the pose. Love it? Loathe it? Indifferent?
PS- More yoga poses.
