Sponsored post: This giveaway is brought to you by Wellicious. All opinions are my own.
March has never been my month. To me, it's one of those dreary months of perpetual dishwater grey, where it's not quite winter yet there's no hint of spring. This year, however, we've been pretty lucky, and I am loving the sunlight and warmth we've been having the last few days. It makes me want to do a little extra detoxing to start fresh for the new season, so I came up with this yoga sequence in case you want a little detox action in your life, too!
Why is a yoga twist good for detox?
So first things first. A sequence revolving around twists is really beneficial to the body because after the twist, the body is flushed with oxygen-rich blood that helps remove toxins. The key to this is making sure that you're initiating the twist from the navel.
Side effects of a detox yoga sequence?
A word of note: you may experience some side effects of the sequence- anything from nausea to headache to a tsnuami of emotions, but before you freak out and run for the hills, also know that it's totally possible nothing with happen. If something does happen, just let it go without too much overthinking. It's normal.
Let's get to it, already!
Ok, ok. So the idea for this sequence is to start with a good warm up, and then begin poses one through six. Breathe five to seven breaths in each pose. Once you get to pose six, repeat the sequence, taking it to the other side for poses one, three, four and five. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below!
Today I'm psyched to be giving away a Wellicious Divine Yoga Mat and if you're in the market for a quality mat, then listen up - you're gonna love this.
I've used this mat for the past week, running to and from classes, throwing it in my car, shooting the above detoxing post with it, so I've had it in a bunch of different places just testing it out.
Pros of the Divine Mat
-Thickness: This mat is .5 cm thick, meaning it is thicker than your run of the mill yoga mat and it's got a little give to it.
-Weight: It is lightweight, probably the same as a regular mat, but I am used to the Black Mat PRO which weighs a whopping eight and a half pounds, so toting this to and from class was a breeze!
-Eco-friendly: The mat is produced in Europe to reduce its carbon footprint and the production process is environmentally friendly.
-Design: The mat sports a design with 300 swarovski elements stones that, to be honest, I worried would fall off, but have remained totally in tact as I've carted it to and from class, in and out of my home, brushing up against stuff in my car. Truly, a quality product.
-Bottom: I really love the texture on the bottom (see pic above). The mat doesn't slide at all due to this design.
-Non-slip surface: The surface is textured and tightly woven (you can see the pic below) so you won't slip and slide all over this mat.
Cons of the Divine Mat:
-Honestly, the only thing I would've said is fear that the swarovski stones would fall off, but it's a well-constructed mat and those babies are solidly attached. I don't feel like I have to baby the mat or anything. That being said, it's probably not the best idea to be reckless when traveling with the mat or rolling it up.
-Price point: The bad news is that at $139, this mat doesn't come cheap. The good news is that I'm giving one away and it could be yours!
