A few months ago I was at my mom's house and she had this large glass jar of what looked like a giant mushroom in brown water sitting on the counter. One of the things I love about my mom is that since the early 90s she's been in the pursuit of improved health. She went to Kripalu before it was the place to do yoga, and when she couldn't find a health food store within driving distance she put together her own food co-op. Of course she also sent me to school with "healthy" homemade cookies when everyone else had Oreos, but that's another story for another day. Anyway, I knew this crazy concoction on her countertop probably had something to do with health but I couldn't figure out what it was just by looking at it.
"It's kombucha!" she excitedly informed me.
"Did you make that word up?" I asked.
"No. Haven't you ever heard of kombucha?!"
"Um, no."
"Oh you must try it. But not this one," she said, opening the jar and sniffing. "I think I ruined this batch."
So here you are - five (big!) health benefits of drinking kombucha. I actually just picked some up earlier this week and have been drinking a little each day. It doesn't taste bad at all - kind of like a fizzy iced tea. Have you ever tried it? Did you like it?
PS- Health benefits of seeds, 9 alkaline forming foods, and a 6 minute yoga video you can do right from your home.
