A few months ago I shared pictures of my home practice space in Florida. I've been in Germany for a few months now and while I've been practicing yoga at home often, it's taken a while to figure out the best spot in the house. I tried one corner of the living room near a large window, but it was awkward seeing my neighbors while doing sun salutations! I tried the guest room, but kept bumping into the slanted walls. I'm now on another side of the living room, and so far I like it. There's an empty wall I can use, a lot of natural light, and we don't understand German well enough to turn on the tv which guarantees I always have the room to myself!
My trip to Turkey was a huge pick up for decorating my little nook. I found the patchwork cushion and tablecloth tucked away on the second floor of this tiny store in the grand bazaar in Istanbul. The Tibetan singing bowl (used for meditation) and dancing Shiva statue were purchased outside the Galata Tower in an underground store run by this awesome man who travels all over the world buying stuff to sell in his little shop.
Having a practice space in your home isn't essential, but I find I'm more likely to practice when I have an inviting space with a mat all laid out and ready to go.
