Hello from Ft Lauderdale airport! I've set up a little makeshift workstation since I've arrived super early, and am catching up on some work from the week. If you've been following along on instagram, you know that we've been in Miami for the Spring Break Yoga Retreat. We had an awesome group of people and I can't wait to share photos and more details next week.
I also shared that it's been a huge week for YBC. Not only did I get to guest post for Yoga Journal, but for the last few months I've been considering putting down some roots and growing YBC. My husband's job is seasonal and doesn't have a ton of stability, and since hiring YBC's Marketing and Events Director Lauren in December, YBC has grown and is ready to take the next step. Our application was accepted and we've secured a beautiful live/work space in Hartford, Connecticut. It'll be the new spot where I'll have an office and dedicated studio space for shooting videos (we're going to be making some huge improvements to the YouTube channel). I'll continue to travel for retreats and workshops (considering where to go for Summer/Fall - any ideas?) but am excited to settle in and really get to work. I love this little community of yoga people that are coming together and chatting on the blog and yoga forum, and I'm so grateful for all the continued support.
When we started looking for a space, I had an exact vision of what I wanted. I pictured an open, industrial loft feel with hardwood flooring. I wanted a separate office space and a ton of natural light. When I walked into the place we ended up getting, it took my breath away. It was exactly what I had envisioned. It feels light and airy and tonight I'll get to spend my first night there. Cannot wait.
As a total aside: do any of you have decorating tips? I feel like it's challenging to put together a cohesive space (#notarealproblem). Years ago when we started living most of the time in Europe, we sold all our stuff, so we are starting off with a totally blank slate. (I'm definitely sleeping on an air mattress tonight.) I've been pinning spaces I like and hoping some sort of inherent know-how will just magically appear. (I just have no idea how people go into a hundred different stores buying different pieces and create this cohesive space - decorators, teach me your ways!)
Anyway, it's a travel day for me today and I had some internet problems at the Miami rental so no Friday video today, but I promise to get you something good next week.
Have a fantastic weekend, wherever you are in the world. Sending you some Florida sunshine and happiness xo
