If you would've told me when I first started practicing yoga that I'd one day be able to do these types of arm balances, I never would've believed you. I mean, even with my dance classes and gymnastics as a kid I was never very strong nor flexible. So if you ever start to feel down on yourself, rest assured that with consistent practice, the strength and flexibility to do these types of poses will come- promise!
Ok.
So this pose requires some openness in the hips. Warm up with a quick hip opening yoga video before trying it out.
TIP: Keep the feet activated and toes spread as you come onto your hands. This will a) protect the ankle of the leg that's on the arms, and b) encourage the core to engage.
