Today's Workout Wednesday is a mixed bag of a bunch of things I wanted to share. The first is that I've started a new training program recently.
I'll be posting my workouts on snapchat (@yogaby_candace). They're mostly CrossFit style workouts with yoga/stretching mixed in at the beginning/end to help with mobility. I feel really, really good with where I'm at and am excited to move forward with the program to continue to build strength. I've been really dialed in to my macros lately, and I think that's been helping me to feel energetic and give it my all when I workout or practice yoga.
I learned a new fun thing to throw in at the end of workouts - 10-15ft handstand walks into the wall followed by handstand push ups. I'm fine at handstand push ups, but the walking has been a slow progression for me. Over the last year or so I've learned that the best thing to do when trying to nail something new is to practice it a million different ways. With handstand walks as the focus, I don't just practice walking on my hands down a long path. I'll do that, yes, but I'll also do the walks into the wall, and shoulder taps, and handstand holds, and playing around with trying to do a turn and a pivot on my hands, etc. I feel like if you focus too much one the goal and don't acknowledge and enjoy the actual journey, and the million ways to get there, it becomes work, and not fun. And I firmly believe in having as much fun as possible in whatever it is you're doing. I touched a bit on this when discussing how to incorporate handstands into your yoga practice.
I've also discovered a few new songs I thought I'd share with you. I am someone who has the toughest time working out without my music. That's a huge reason why I'm not eager to sign up for a CrossFit box (aside from the $150/mo price tag when my regular gym is $20/mo!). I just love putting my headphones on, turning off all outside distracting and getting to work. My favorite. It's like a meditation to me. Ok so here we go:
As far as workout gear, the temps are starting to cool down so I'm wearing more leggings to the gym. I think I mentioned being back on the lululemon wagon (don't hate me) and am obsessed with the wunder under crop high rise. I find them so comfortable and so flattering, but will keep you posted on how they hold up in the wash and with more wear.
In terms of new products, I wanted to share this serum I have been using from one of my recent iHerb orders. It is INCREDIBLE. I have no idea what's in it because it's all in Korean, but this stuff works to revive dull skin, calm down irritated, inflamed skin, and soothe and repair skin that's broken out. I had a pretty bad breakout this last week and I used it morning and night - just a thin layer - let it dry, and then followed up with a thin layer of this handmade salve a friend made for me. Anyway, this serum is really incredible and if you're up for trying it, you can take $5 off your first order with code JJF278.
Shopbop is having a big shopping event right now, if you're in the market for clothing. If you spend up to $500 you can take 25% off your order with code MAINEVENT16 and if you spend over $500 (#ballerstatus), you can take 30% off your order with the same code. Here are some of my picks:
And that about does it! Let me know how your fitness goals are going down in the comments below. What is your focus? What are you doing to achieve your goals? Discovered any new songs lately? Any new products I should know about?
