I don’t share much about my personal life on social, mostly because then it becomes a part of my work, and the last thing I want when it comes to my relationship is to feel like I have to document it for work. But sometimes, you do something just so dumb that it’s almost funny and it needs to be shared, so here we go.
A few weeks ago, while out to dinner, my boyfriend and I got into what I would describe as a discussion. Not an argument, per say, but a discussion. I was lamenting (complaining) that things didn’t feel as special as they once did, that both of us were so busy we didn’t go out of our way for each other anymore like we used to. He patiently listened while I acted like a complete brat, and just sort of smiled to himself which I found mildly frustrating but didn’t say anything about it. We finished our dinner and drove home in silence.
The next day, I got ready for the gym and grabbed my gym bag, but the unusually heavy weight of the bag threw me off. I put it down and opened it with curiosity, wondering what in the world I’d unknowingly thrown in there to make it so bulky and heavy. Upon opening it, I was greeted with a bright orange Nike box, and said, ‘What’s this?!’
My boyfriend looked over from his computer and said, ‘I bought them for you earlier this week’ (before our, ahem, discussion).
“Omg, why?!’ I asked.
“Just because,” he said with a smile. “I like surprising you.”
So basically I’m a jerk. Ugh.
Anyway. I’ve been wearing the new Nike Metcon 5’s for weeks now and I wanted to share my review for anyone out there looking for a good workout shoe.
Weight: The shoe itself is lighter than the 4’s, and significantly lighter than the 3’s. They’re so comfortable and the light weight makes things like running and jumping feel effortless.
Lifter Option: The shoe comes with two plastic inserts that you can wear to make the heel higher if you’re into Olympic lifts. I love the customizable option because often people will have their workout shoe and then their lifters. This eliminates the need for a second pair of shoes.
Functionality: These shoes are also really breathable, provide good arch support, and fit super comfortably. I’ve used them from everything from box jumps to barbell work to dumb bell work, to plyometric work to jogging, sprinting and rowing. I absolutely love them.
I tried to think of even one thing that could be improved upon but I honestly came up empty - it’s the perfect training shoe. If you’re in need of a new workout shoe, I highly recommend these!
