The Restorative Yoga Practice is a modality of yoga I wasn’t initially drawn towards when I first discovered yoga at the age of fifteen. I gravitated more towards sweaty, athletic-based styles like Bikram and Power. But eventually, I found myself coming back to this style time and again. Now, it is one of my favorite styles to practice. I find it so incredibly beneficial for stress, and fascia and muscle tightness. This was such a fun series to put together, and I hope it’s been helpful to you. Without further ado, let’s review the previous three videos, and I’ll share more about the last in the series.
The first Restorative Yoga Foundations video was more informational, and touched on what Restorative Yoga is and what it isn’t. It’s a great place to start if you’re just discovering restorative yoga for the first time and want a more in-depth crash course into what it’s all about.
The second Restorative Yoga Foundations video covers how to calm the monkey mind, and touches on sequencing guidelines if you’re looking to begin your at-home restorative yoga practice, or you’re a yoga teacher looking to start incorporating more restorative classes into your offerings. We also do a short restorative yoga practice together.
The third Restorative Yoga Foundations video covers how to manipulate yoga props to make the practice comfortable, which is one of the most important aspects of the restorative practice. This is going to be particularly helpful to people with mobility issues, or teachers who have students with mobility issues.
The fourth video, embedded below, shares three restorative yoga postures I don’t see often in class. These are feel-good restorative poses that just aren’t as popular as others, so I thought they’d be interesting to share. If you’re still needing some more guidance on what other poses you could incorporate, there is an entire Restorative Yoga section in my book Namaslay.
Let me know any special requests you have for a new series in the future!
