The last few weeks have been tough for me personally but there is a lot professionally going on, and in recent days I've been reflecting on this YBC journey and thought I'd share some memories here in the hopes that it inspires you to reflect on how far you've come on your journey.
The above pic was taken in May, 2015, just as I was about to welcome my third group to Greece for a yoga retreat. We just announced our next Greek island yoga retreat yesterday and we've already go a bunch of people signed up! Going to Greece was once just a dream of mine and I am so grateful that I've been fortunate enough to go a number of times, and get to actually bring people there to share in the beauty of the country.
Way back in 2014 I lead a corporate yoga event in Berlin, Germany. It was so much fun and so different from my usual teachings.
I loved doing these cut outs for the blog and I can't believe that now we have an entire book filled with cut out poses.
Namaslay can be pre-ordered on Amazon, Barnes and Noble or indiebound.
My first European retreat was in Ibiza, Spain at this incredible villa. The property had a yurt where we practiced every morning and evening. It was gorgeous, but got incredible hot because the covering was plastic - it was like practicing in a greenhouse!
In my personal practice, I've come a long way as well - here is the beginning stage of scorpion pose in 2013.
And I made quite a bit of progress by 2015 above!
And it is ca-razy to see how much my body has changed over the years. In 2013, I had just finished antibiotics for Lyme disease and my gut was destroyed. I was underweight, had pretty much zero muscle, and was still struggling with joint issues.
Two years later, you can see I've put on a good amount of weight, and looking (but most importantly, feeling) so much better.
If you ever find yourself being particularly tough on yourself, take a moment to reflect on how far you have come and how much you have accomplished. Be gentle on yourself, you're doing the best you can. xo
