At the end of our European workshop tour, we were lucky enough to be hosted at K West Hotel and Spa in London, England. The studio they put us in was unbelievably roomy and featured two couches in the sitting area, and I put one to good use by shooting a short but effective total body couch yoga video! This is a gentle yoga sequence appropriate for all levels and ages, but as always, move within a pain-free range and take breaks as needed. In just under ten minutes, you will gently awaken the spine, and open up the hips and chest. It’s a great video to do if you’re just waking up, or have been traveling and are feeling jet lagged or run down. Give it a try below and let us know how it goes.
Now, back to the hotel. The thing about city hotels is that their rooms are often tiny. I can’t speak on any of the other rooms, but the studio they put me in was super roomy with a king sized bed, two couches in a sitting area, an office area, minibar area, and a roomy bathroom with a full tub. I felt so unbelievably comfortable.
I arrived just after midnight at the place was hoppin’ with a chic bar just next to the lobby. The front desk staff was so welcoming and got us into our room quickly, as we were exhausted. Room service was delivered within a half hour, and I had an excellent fresh salad with smoked salmon, while YBC®’s Marketing Director Lauren had a chicken burger. We ate, showered, and then fell into a deep sleep. Surprisingly, we didn’t hear a thing - no sounds from the bar downstairs, and not a peep from the outside roads!
In the morning, we went downstairs for a quick gym sesh. The gym was unbelievable! The oversized room had multiple cardio machines, multiple bikes, free weights, dumbbells, and more equipment than I’ve ever seen in any hotel gym, period. If you’re a health nut, you’ll want to stay at K West simply for the easy access to a great gym.
There’s also a spa on site, although I was disappointed I didn’t have enough time to try out a massage. Next time, for sure! They offer so many services from nails to facials to massage - it looks like an incredibly relaxing oasis.
After the gym, we went upstairs for an English Breakfast. They offer a little buffet with fresh fruit and granola, and then you can also choose a main dish off a select menu. Lauren had pancakes with berries, and I had an egg white omelette with smoked salmon (I was really on a smoked salmon kick!). Both dishes were fantastic. We also grabbed some coffees and headed out for class.
One thing I wanted to mention is that their check out is at noon, but if you want to extend your check out, it’s only ten pounds per hour. I thought that was a fantastic deal, and makes things so easy if you’ve got a later flight. I took advantage of it and checked out at 3pm for our 6:30pm flight. I was so thankful that was an option - most hotels will charge you a full night’s stay for a super late check out like that!
Overall, K West Hotel and Spa was a great little hotel in London. Stylish, comfortable, excellent food and gym options, and the staff was incredibly friendly. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting London!
