My morning routine has changed over the years, but now that I am moved in with my boyfriend, things have changed once again, and I’m loving my new mornings. I feel like a good morning can really set the tone for a productive, feel-good day, so I thought I’d share my current routine.
5:45am - We have such a cool alarm clock, and it’s set for 6:15am, but I always wake up earlier. I usually will stay in bed there for a minute, just taking a few deep breaths, meditating, and setting an intention for the day.
6:00am - I get up and say hello to Buckles. He is the sleepiest in the morning and is so sweet and cuddly first thing. I gently pet him and whisper good morning and tell him I hope he had a nice sleep. We have a one sided conversation for a hot second.
6:10am - Then I make my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth and use this new CBD oil I got from BodyChek (use code YBC35 for 35% off). I’m a fan because its extraction method is second to none, and the oil is organic, nonGMO and gluten-free. I put a dropper full under my tongue and hold it there for about 15 seconds, and then swallow. From there, I pad into the kitchen.
6:15am - I start making breakfast. We generally have a scramble with a ton of veggies and healthy fat. I start by putting some fat (usually my favorite ghee) in a pan (my dad gave me this one for my birthday last year, it’s awesome), and add in minced onions. As they cook, I chop up my other veggies. I use whatever I have in the fridge - broccoli, riced cauliflower, a little sweet potato, Brussels sprouts. As the ghee cooks down, I add a ladle or two of bone broth which I always have going on my countertop in the crock pot and then add in the other veggies. While they cook, I’ll get out the eggs and the meat. After a couple minutes, I’ll add in 5 eggs and a couple TBS of egg whites (I buy them in a carton). Then, I’ve cooked the meat already, so I add it in at the very end with some cheese.
6:30am - Around this time, my boyfriend gets out of the shower and dresses, and comes out to the kitchen. We chat about the day ahead as he eats and I make us fresh juice. Today I did carrot, ginger and lemon - so good. We take our meds (we’re both doing the parasite cleanse, #fun. Learn all about it on the YBC® App). He heads to the computer to get some early morning work done and if I haven’t prepped our lunches the day before, I do it then.
7:00am - The lunches I put together are usually pretty simple - leftover meat and a salad with a good probiotic dressing. I put together a couple snacks for him as well - usually just put some yogurt and chia seeds together with collagen peptides in a small mason jar, and some cashews or pistachios in another container and package it all up so he can grab and go.
7:15am - I sit down to get some preliminary work done. Usually double checking that the day’s blog post went live without an issue. I’ll answer DMs and pressing emails at this time.
7:30am - My boyfriend leaves for work and since my commercial space isn’t done yet, I stay at home to continue working. I’ll make my coffee at this point, and then I’ll sit down to work on blog posts, promotion for upcoming events, and check in with my team (we have a Slack account and a group text going). Each day we generally touch base on the most pressing things so we all know what we’re each individually working on.
9:00am - Around this time, I’ll take Buckles for a walk. I usually listen to an uplifting podcast or music while on the walk and try to clear my head and stay positive. Then I go back to the house, and take a shower and get dressed.
9:45am - I usually will make a snack (usually pistachios) and make myself a drink (I’ve been really into this matcha collagen lately).
9:45am - I’m back at my desk working.
My mornings are quiet, relaxed, and generally pretty stress free, depending on what I’ve got going on for work stuff. I love that it’s all at my own pace, and I have the luxury of going for a shorter or longer walk with Buckles if I want, or that I could food prep a quiche and not have to get up in the morning to make breakfast if I wanted. I know the self-employment life is not for everyone because #nostability and #sometimeslonely, but I love working for myself and have really been enjoying my morning routine! I’d love to hear yours in the comments below!
