Motivation Monday is a weekly series on YBC® where we'll unveil that week's podcast episode of Namaslay® with YogaByCandace®, a few inspirational uplifting or interesting bits from around the web, and new books, finds and other goodies our team is loving.
Today's a travel day - I'll be flying home from Kansas City after a whirlwind trip through the midwest. It was so fun to meet with YBCers face to face, and take this social online community into the studio space to learn, practice, and grow together. I'm home for a few days, and then I'll be off to Italy and Santorini for our next YBCevents yoga retreats!
In this week’s episode of the Namaslay® podcast, I talk conscious entrepreneurship and steps to a healthier lifestyle with Riley Cote, a former NHL Enforcer for the Philadelphia Flyers, and founder of BodyChek Wellness. Riley's hockey days were spent getting his hands dirty the “old fashion way”, fighting on the ice as an Enforcer. Being a physical player was part of his role however it came at a cost. Putting his body on the line and sacrificing his wellbeing for the betterment of his team resulted in constant physical pain, countless concussions, mental anxiety and a laundry list of bodily injuries. Rather than relying on pharmaceuticals for pain management, Riley turned to hemp-based solutions. BodyChek Wellness began as a play on words. In hockey, the most physical version of checking is the “body check”. BodyChek Wellness is about applying a “checking mindset” when it comes to our physical health. It’s about achieving wellness by being mindful, tuning in and listening to the body.
Riley built a company on the belief that the road to recovery begins with natural solutions, with the mission of optimizing everyday performance and challenging individuals to rethink the healing process. You can use code YBC35 for 35% off your order of premium, organic, hemp derived CBD products. Listen in for more on his journey to wellness and inspiration to improve your own. This podcast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and pretty much anywhere you listen to podcasts. Or, you can also listen here. And if you have a second, would you mind taking this survey? We just want to get some demographics about who's listening to the podcast. Thanks!
