Motivation Monday is a weekly series on YBC® where we'll unveil that week's podcast episode of Namaslay® with YogaByCandace®, a few inspirational uplifting or interesting bits from around the web, and new books, finds and other goodies our team is loving.
We concluded our first ever Personal Growth and Yoga Retreat in Bolzano this weekend, and I am so pleased with how it went. The guests, the workshops and meditations, and the venue were an absolute dream, and I left feeling inspired about what 2020 will look like for me and my team. I’m home for just a few days, then it’s off to Costa Rica for our Namaslay® Luxe Fitness and Yoga Retreat. It will be great to see Lauren and host our guests in such a beautiful place, but I’ve really got to stay on top of hydration and self-care, so the travel doesn’t make me ill. I’ll be sure to take a few items from the Mantra Box® that are great for supporting wellness on the go.
This week’s episode of the podcast is an interview with Dr. Christa Kuberry, Vice President of Standards for Yoga Alliance, a non-profit association that represents yoga schools and teachers to support the integrity and diversity of the practice and to ensure high quality, safe, and accessible teaching. Yoga Alliance recently released the initial outcomes from its 18-month Standards Review Project, which reflect the needs and opinions of thousands of yoga teachers from around the world. Dr. Kuberry takes us through the outcomes, which include updates to the RYS 200 credential, as well as a universal ethical commitment, and take effect next year.
I was really excited to have this conversation with Dr. Kuberry. I think any time change is introduced, there’s push back, but I was relieved to see the curriculum of Namaslay® YTT already goes above and beyond the updated standards. Our chat made me even more confident in our 200 hour teacher training, and I’m so looking forward to our next one in Santorini in April (send us a DM if you have any questions about applying!). Tune in and let me know what you think about the changes coming to the yoga world! This podcast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and pretty much anywhere you listen to podcasts. Or, you can also listen here. And if you have a second, would you mind taking this survey? We just want to get some demographics about who's listening to the podcast. Thanks!
Here’s what’s on my radar lately:
Why I’m trying not to look at my phone first thing in the morning
The border crisis weighs heavy on my heart. Here’s one way you can help.
Hiking the Inca Trail is on my bucket list, and I’ve decided to start long term planning. We had to hike up a STEEP hill to get from town to our hotel in Bolzano, and let’s just say ya girl needs to get to training!
I like to read Skimm’d for quick current events takeaways, and the podcast with its co-founders and CEOs has some great guests!
Work goals 2020 have me looking closer at time management
I recently discovered this Instagram account, and I’m DED.
Here’s to a great week!
