We’re back with another Celebrity Style Challenge! The last one was so much fun to try that I was excited to give this one a go. As a reminder, the self-imposed rule I had about this challenge is that I wanted to shop my own closet, or if I absolutely had to buy something for the look, I could only buy one thing. My friend Sherry picked out this look but I didn’t have a lace top or a pageboy hat. I did try this peddler hat on at the mall, but ultimately I felt like the hat was just an accessory, and the lace top was more vital to achieving the overall look.
Ok so first things first. I saw this lace bodysuit at Forever21, and it was marked at $12.90 which I was psyched about because I honestly didn’t think I’d love this look and I was just buying it for the shoot. It rang up on sale at under $7, which was obviously even better, but once I put it on, I actually really liked the look!
I wasn’t totally sure what to wear under it. A regular bra just felt a little too much like a throwback to college days, so I went with this opaque nude colored bralette. The trick to the bralette, I realized, was that I needed a scoop neck style because a v-neck style gave me far too much cleavage than I was comfortable with.
I am honestly shocked by how comfortable this bodysuit is. And for the $7 price, you can’t go wrong. Unfortunately, I can’t find the one I bought online, but below are a bunch of bodysuits at a variety of price points.
I kept my make up pretty minimal, with just a little shimmer on the eyes, a light pink lip, and my favorite blush.
For the high waist denim, I picked my most comfortable pair of jeans ever, by GRLFRND. They hug you in all the right places, yet have a bit of give to them so they don’t dig into you when you’re sitting, for example. I find they run true to size.
For the shoes, I didn’t have any grey booties like the ones she’s wearing in the inspo pic above, but since I’d already purchased the bodysuit, I had to wear something I already owned. I wound up wearing my old Kendall and Kylie lace up booties from last year.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the wearability of this look. I am glad I got out of my comfort zone to try it because I now feel like I have a go-to outfit for a night out that I feel comfortable in. I’d love to hear your thoughts below, and if you’ve got an inspo pic for us to try to recreate, feel free to leave it in the comments section below!
