The 2015 Spring yoga retreats are beginning to fill up! Come join us for a weekend or week of yoga!
We're approaching the final days of the 31 Day Strength Program so I thought I'd take a moment to break down astavakrasana pose, aka eight angle pose. This one, in my opinion, looks harder than it actually is. It's not so much about strength (although there is an element of strength involved), as it is about finding the balance between the hips lifting up and the legs extending. If the hips are too low, the legs will be off, and vice versa. So just play around in it.
Years ago, I did a video of how to get into this pose (along with a couple tips and tricks if you're not quite there yet), and a few months ago I shot a vid getting into it in Costa Rica. When I watch both videos (below), it's amazing to see how much stronger I've become! It just goes to show you that if you keep practicing, you'll eventually grow (I know, mind-blowing, right?!).
If regular eight angle pose is easy breezy for you, take a walk on the wild side and switch it up with this funky variation.
Let's talk Give the pose a try and let me know how it goes in the comments below!
