Whew, it’s been a month and we’re just at the halfway point. The short of it is that I have a lot on my plate, and I’m viewing it as a good opportunity to try to set more boundaries and say no to things so that I don’t burn out.
A little update from my camera roll - I finally got an eye exam (at Target, $85) after feeling like my eyes were playing tricks on me. I’ve always had one eye that was the tiniest bit blurry and I did have glasses and wear contacts about a decade ago but my vision was never really that bad. Fast forward to this year and I just felt like I was looking out through a dirty window, so I knew it was time. The doctor said one eye is near sighted and one eye is far sighted but that neither of them are that bad, so the prescription is pretty low and she said to wear them if I’m watching tv or reading or driving but that otherwise, I didn’t need contacts or anything. I went with Warby Parker glasses (thanks to everyone who recommended them for a reasonably priced pair of glasses). I ordered the Hawkins pair, and love them. They’re kind of an oversized 80’s vibe, and with the prescription lenses and added blue light protection (does that even work?!), it came out to $215 with expedited shipping. Not awful, but not cheap, IMO.
In other news, Buckles has been doing well. Dan got him this lick pad for Christmas, and he loves it. I smear it with peanut butter, and sometimes I give it to him right away and other times I’ll freeze it first.
I got exciting news that our adoption application has been accepted at Husky House so Buckles will hopefully getting a little brother or sister in the near future. I’m hoping for a younger dog, but we’ll see.
The book club I belong to is reading The Lost Apothecary this month. I really need to get on it because I believe we meet next week and I’m only on page two - not for lack of interest, but lack of time. Sigh.
My uniform as of late has been a pair of leggings (these are my favorite because they have just the right amount of compression while also allowing your skin to breathe), and one of these tanks which I bought on a whim off Poshmark a few months ago and proceeded to buy one in nearly every color I found. They’re lightweight and easy and I just love them. (Ooo and I just realized they have a cropped version, if you’re into crops.) I got these new dad sneakers, which I love, and I always wind up throwing a cropped sweatshirt over - this particular one is like ten years old, but here’s a similar one.
