My love for hiit workouts continues! I wasn't able to do much while I was traveling this summer, but in the last few weeks since returning, I've been incorporating them multiple times per week and am seeing such great results.
This workout is only about five minutes long, but is sure to get your heart rate up, and if you need a bit more of a workout, you can combine it with one of these. In this video I'm using a pair of ten pound dumbbells. If you're fresh out of dumbbells, you can use a set of heavy yoga blocks or anything else around you house that you have available to you.
Before we jump into it, I want to highlight today's sponsor, HYLETE. I'm wearing their Irish Shorts, which I like for two main reasons. One, the have zippered pockets on either side that are perfect for keeping your house keys or phone securely with you while you workout. Two, I love that they come in three lengths, so you can choose the cut that works best for you. Aside from that, they are also lined, which makes them incredibly comfortable even when working out. I'm also wearing HYLETE's Altium Sports Bra. I've been pretty vocal about how hard it is to find a bra that works for me since I have a small torso but larger cup size, and this bra, to my surprise, fits the bill! I especially love that it's cut a bit higher so you don't get any weird side boob thing going on. In addition, the lining is removable and the thick straps keep you securely held in and avoid digging into your shoulders. Huge fan of this bra.
HYLETE is generously offering 40% off just for YBCers with code YBC. You also might want to check out their convertible leggings which can be worn as a full length tight or as capris. If you're more into shorts, these are a great option with a vibrant color and dual hip zipper pockets. And for my YBC guys, also have a whole line of men's clothing including 4 way stretch compression shorts and a great quad-blend henley.
Ok - let's hop into the workout now. This video combines two movements: shoulder to overhead and air squats. For the shoulder to overhead movement, you'll want to stay tight through your midline. This engages the core and ensure you're using upper body strength to press the dumbbells from the shoulders up overhead. For the air squats, you'll want to focus on keeping your chest upright and avoiding letting your knees cave in as you squat down. Check out the video for more pointers and to give this workout a try.
