I have a tough time with bras, so when I find a good one, I tend to stock up. My problem is that I have a small torso size but a bigger cup size and I can rarely find anything that fits me perfectly. I thought I'd share a few of the things I look for when shopping for sports bras, and I'd love to hear what you look for down in the comments! And if you still wanna chat activewear, there's a little chit chat going on over on the Yoga Forum!
For yoga:
Material: I don't need a ton of support for yoga, but I need a decent amount of compression or I feel super insecure. Cotton sports bras, for this reason, don't work for me because they stretch out too much during the practice and by the end I'm checking to make sure I'm still in there! :)
Coverage: I love when a bra comes up higher toward the armpits because I just feel "held in" more - onzie does this really well, as does this alala bra, this alo bra, and this shakti activewear top.
Design: I love when a yoga bra has a little something special like criss cross straps. I just feel better practicing in something like rather than your standard, heavy duty sports bra.
Here are a few of my favorites:
For the gym, it's a whole other story.
Material: I want something sweat-wicking and quick drying that retains its shape throughout the duration of the workout.
Coverage: I need something that supports and covers, so as unflattering as they are, I tend to stick with the traditional ol' sports bras.
Design: I don't care too much about design here - I just tend to avoid white sports bras because they always look kind of yellowish after a couple washes, haha.
