A few years ago, I wouldn't have been caught dead in a pair of short shorts. Not at the gym, and certainly not running around town. Then, I decided life was too short to not wear short shorts, and embraced them full-on, regardless of my insecurities.
Fast forward a few years, and here I am, short shorts and all. I'm a big fan of high waist shorts because they stay put while working out or practicing yoga, and they lay flat on my stomach without digging in anywhere. These pair were sent my way from my Evolve Fitwear fam, and I am really digging the pattern. These shorts have good compression and are made from a really smooth fabric. The company, PopFlex, is a brand I've been wanting to try for ages. I love the flat seam design, high waist cut, and smooth fabric. The best part? They're only $28!
If you like this style, you might also want to try this brand Teeki, which makes a similar style and feel short. Actually, the only real difference between the PopFlex and Teeki is that PopFlex's fabric is thicker (which I actually like better). I feel like the thickness of the fabric means the shorts don't ride up like Teeki's. Another pair of shorts I've seen on my students before, but haven't tried myself, is this pair by Onzie. I love the design so much! The pattern is great, and the ties on the side ensure your shorts stay put. They're also a pretty thick fabric, which I like
I like to pair my workout shorts with loose fitting tops, and I am a big fan of this waffle knit muscle tank by Joah Brown. The women behind Joah Brown seriously make the best stuff. Their tops are super soft, breathable, and just the best for workouts or for lounging around. I also have this cardigan by them in petal pink which I wear over summer dresses and leggings on cool mornings - it's so soft! I'm also really into this perforated top by another brand I love - Hard Tail Forever, and this kale top is super cute as well!
Annnd can't go wrong with a hat post workout! I see a lot of girls at my gym wearing hats while they workout, but I feel like I sweat too much for that to be comfortable. I'm all about throwing one on post workout or any time I'm having a bad hair day, though. This one, by electric rose, does the trick. Also a huge fan of this best day ever hat.
I wore this outfit over the long holiday weekend and I'm not gonna lie, the weekend felt like the close of summer. It was a great one, though. Next up, my favorite season for fashion - fall!
