I know I’m not the only one looking forward to gathering with friends and family this year. After the last nearly two years of the pandemic, I am ready for some quality time with the ones we love! This year, we decided to host a small Friendsgiving with a group of Dan’s friends from elementary school (!!! I can’t believe they’ve stayed so close after all these years!).
I’m new to hosting, and we only just moved into our house about a year ago, so I was really excited to put together a pretty table scape and I’m really pleased with how it came out. I was hoping for a whimsical, cozy vibe, and I think it came together well. The room is my formal living room, which I just use as a filming room. I cleared out all my filming equipment, which left me with basically a completely open room. Here’s a list of everything that brought it together:
Tables - I bought two six foot long tables off Facebook marketplace, which is always my go-to place to look when I know exactly what I want. They’re these exact tables.
Tablecloth - I went back and forth on tablecloths. Initially I was going to do a painter’s drop cloth because they’re inexpensive and I loved the textured, relaxed vibe of the look, but then wasn’t sure on the dimensions, so ended up going with these linens. I wanted the tablecloth to go down to the floor to hide the metal legs of the tables.
Napkins - I knew we would be having around 14 people or so, maybe one or two more, and I couldn’t find a pack of the exact number I’d need, so I wound up mixing two colors- this pretty mauve and a simply oatmeal color. I got these organic cotton washable napkins and they’re perfect if you like a laid back, textured vibe. I love that look, but I will say they do wrinkle easily, so they’re not ideal for someone who needs it to be perfectly still and symmetrical.
Burlap Table Runners - I wanted a little canvas to put my greenery on, so I got this pack of burlap table runners which worked out perfectly.
Greenery - I got a couple packs of these faux eucalyptus. I’m not a huge fan of faux flowers, and these are no exception but honestly they’re a great deal, they don’t look fake unless you are really examining them, and I love that I can use them again in the future.
Candles - I got these mauve taper candles that I think are so pretty, and they’re the same hue as the napkins, and look so pretty against the barely-there sage color of the room.
Candlesticks - These brushed gold candlesticks were so pretty, and I like the varying heights, which I think gives interest to the overall look of the table scape.
Vases - I got this mismatched set of vintage vases. They’re mostly on the shorter side, which I like because I think it’s nice to be able to look across the table and talk to the other person without your view being obstructed.
And that’s pretty much it! I’m so looking forward to this holiday season. Life feels so, so good right now, and I truly am so happy. Wishing you and yours the very best this holiday season.
