A few months ago, HiMirror reached out to collaborate with their smart mirror. While looking over the specs, I noticed that it gives you a skin analysis, which I was intrigued by, so I agreed to give it a try. I have some residual minor acne scarring on my left cheek and wondered whether the mirror would pick it up and offer any advice.
To my surprise, the mirror arrived beautifully packaged and with an unexpected add-on - a body scale that measures your body composition. I thought that was pretty cool.
So basically, you plug in the HiMirror, download the accompanying app, and pair it to your phone. Then, you turn the mirror on and you can control it with gestures. Move your hand right to go to the next screen, left to go back, or make the motion of pressing inward for enter. I thought that was a really cool functionality.
Then, you manually open up the camera cover that's at the top of the mirror, line up your face for the facial recognition login, and the skin analysis will start. It scans your face and gives you a little graph of their findings. While it didn't mention the acne scarring (maybe it's not as noticeable as I feel like it is), it gave me a great score. I really do try to take care of my skin, so it was nice to read the report that confirms I'm doing a good job. There's also a section called My Beauty Box, and you can add products you use via barcode scanning and the mirror can offer skincare tips.
With the scale, it's a pretty similar process. It comes with a mat cover that goes over the scale, which you step on after pairing the mirror and the scale. Once it's all connected, it'll give you a full run down of your BMI, body fat percentage, body type and more. It's kind of like having your own little at-home beauty and fitness consultant, where you can check in and see how you're doing.
I created a little video to explain a bit more and show you how to use it, and you can check it out below and you can visit HiMirror to order your own. Please read their return policy before purchasing. For HiMirror’s new updates and announcements, please visit HiMirror’s official website.
