Do you love where you live? Florida isn't for everyone, but at the end of a long winter in Germany, Florida is a much welcomed change of scenery. We'll be here for about 2 1/2 months, and then we'll head back up north to see family before we take off once again for Germany. Until then, I'll be soaking up all that I love about Florida.
1. The beach. Yoga on the beach, reading on the beach, swimming at the beach. All along the beach people are always out running, riding their bikes, or walking their dogs. It's a buzzing little active beach community and we love that.
2. Southern charm. I went to Whole Foods the other day and the cashier kept calling me "ma'am." "How you doin' today, ma'am?" "Did you find everything okay, ma'am?" "Have a great day, now, ma'am." Most people we pass when we're out walking the dog mumble a "hey ya'll". It feels friendlier down here.
3. Cheap living. In New York, we paid $3.88 for gas. It's $3.41 down the street in Florida. Everything is cheaper than up north. Going out to eat, movies, golfing, real estate.
4. The weather. Almost every single morning we wake up to blue skies and bright sunshine. It's impossible to wake up on the wrong side of the bed when every day is sunny and beautiful. What a huge change from Germany's grey, wet winters.
