Aside from handstands, it seems the pose on most people's bucket list is Hanumanasana, or splits. Years ago I did a post on splits, but I wanted to revisit it with an updated video. Since I've injured my upper trap, I've been focusing on opening my hips and working on my split daily. In today's video, I'm sharing my go-to sequence before I come into the split.
I always do this sequence (or a variation of it) after my workout, so I am sufficiently warmed up. I will warn that it's extremely important to be warmed up anytime you're about to practice a big pose, but it's especially important in this case, as the hips and the surrounding muscles are notoriously tight for many of us, so it's easy to injure yourself if you're not properly warmed up.
If you're looking for a solid warm up vid, do something like this or this. Then, give this practice a try and let me know how it goes for you down in the comments section below.
