You know how you associate certain foods to seasons? For me, fall is synonymous with my three favorite desserts: chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin pie, and my mom's pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. I tried to recreate the latter with German ingredients, and they were really good but probably would have turned out even better if I owned a measuring cup (eyeballing is more my style anyway, though) and if been able to find canned pumpkin here. Instead, I substituted butternut squash, and the end result was pretty delish anyway. I used this recipe, if you'd like to give it a go.
