I recently went to Chicago to debut a brand new workshop on anatomy and back care (so much fun!), and to attend the Vital Proteins launch party for their new Collagen Water (my favorite is the original and the lemon ginger). The launch party invite said “dress to impress,” and this was the best I could do with what I had, and I think it worked! Everyone needs that one go-to piece that you can pull for anything from a date night to a celebration.
I got this particular jumpsuit from The Real Real, one of my favorite places to shop both for sustainability to the fact that I like the quality of those higher end pieces (but don’t love those retail price tags!). This jumpsuit is by A.L.C. and actually came with the tags still on it…for over $600! I bought it for around $125. Love when that happens. (Here’s a similar jumpsuit, and another at a better price point.)
I like the wide leg cropped fit - it suits my petite legs, and the material is thick yet light and moveable. It’s seriously so comfortable. Plus, POCKETS.
Lauren brought a hair wand which I’d never used before, so I ran it haphazardly through my day two hair and hoped for the best. I didn’t love how it came out but it was windy, humid and raining, and I hoped that with a little hair spray and a lot of luck it’d just look beachy and messy.
For this trip I wanted to pack as light as possible, so I didn’t fuss with extra make up or more jewelry. I stuck to the necklace I haven’t taken off since last summer, and Ruby Woo lipstick, this retro red color that I absolutely love.
The shoes (similar at better price) are one of my best second hand purchases to date. I found a great consignment shop in Calabasas when I was out in LA last time and spotted these. The cashier told me a stylist had brought them in - they’d been worn once for a two hour appearance and discarded. I was psyched - they fit me like a glove and as far as heels go, they’re pretty comfortable even after hours of wear!
I think ultimately, when it comes to dressing up, it’s just important that you feel comfortable and you like what you’ve got on because that translates to confidence. I was so happy to have scored both these items secondhand, and felt so good all night! What’s your go-to outfit for a night out?
